Body Tired, Mind Racing?
Just for Today: Let Energy Guide You
You know the feeling: the body aches for rest, but the mind refuses to quit. Shoulders tight, chest heavy, thoughts spinning faster than the breath can catch.
It’s a cruel paradox—exhausted yet wired. So many of us are experiencing this these days.
Reiki offers a softer lens: you are energy first, body second. When we let energy guide us, the body follows. Not with perfection, but with presence. Just for today. Just for this breath.
Why “Energy First” Matters When You’re Overwhelmed
Stress tricks us into believing the body carries it all. But tension is often the residue of unprocessed urgency—stories rehearsed, fears repeated, worries we wear like armor.
Energy-first practices interrupt that loop. A single pause, a hand to heart, a breath released longer than it entered. Energy steadies; the body softens.
Your One-Minute Energy Reset
When your body feels drained but your thoughts won’t stop, try this quick reset:
Inhale normally. Exhale a beat longer, repeat three times.
Place your left hand on your chest or heart center, right hand on your belly.
Whisper to yourself: “Just for today, I let energy guide me.”
Notice if the mind slows its pace. Even 60 seconds can shift the whole day.
Self-Inquiry for Today
Pick at least one of these questions. Do more when you have the time AND ENERGY!
Let the process spark a gentler story inside you:
Where in my body does urgency live, and what color/texture does it have?
What softens me 1% right now—temperature, light, breath, posture?
If my energy were weather, what’s today’s forecast? What gear do I need?
Which story am I rehearsing that tightens my chest? What’s a truer, kinder line?
Here’s mine:
The other night I caught myself looping on the old script: “You’ll never catch up. You’re always behind.” My chest tightened, my jaw clenched. Then I asked, What’s a truer, kinder line? The answer rose quietly: “You’ve carried yourself through harder days. Rest isn’t weakness—it’s medicine.” My breath deepened, my body softened, and sleep came easier.
Choose Gentle Over Perfect
You don’t need to master calm. You only need one small shift: a breath, a pause, a kinder thought. Energy first, body second.
So the next time your body is tired but your mind won’t stop—remember this isn’t just physical. Just for today, let energy guide you.
